Now Open!

Welcome to the Halliday Public Library! I am so excited to have you finally be able to join us at the library. I have been working so hard to get the library open for everyone to enjoy, and it’s time!

How did we get here? After touring the former Halliday Public School, and seeing the former school library dark and quiet, I had a vision to bring it back to life. I had to start by getting the project on the election ballot to be voted on. You may have seen my family and I walking around Halliday during the summer of 2024, getting our petition signed to get a measure on the ballot. That was the first step in getting the library open. The measure passed, and since then, I have been working hard on bringing my vision to life.

The mission for the Halliday Public Library is to provide a warm, welcoming environment for the community to bring people together, inspire creativity, provide unique experiences, and encourage a lifelong love of learning and reading through a wide variety of reliable, easily accessible, and continually evolving services. My goal is to be the welcoming heart of the community, where our patrons come to learn and connect.

There are many different areas of the library that are tailored for our patrons, including a study work room with chair seating and a table to work at, a children’s play room with a brand new STEM wall and Montessori play, beanbag chairs for grabbing a book to read comfortably, a large meeting table to spread your work out on or work on a puzzle, and many other enjoyable spaces throughout the library.

The Library has a wide variety of books to meet the needs of all of our patrons, in the form of physical and audiobooks! DVDs, board games, puzzles, STEM kits, and other learning accessories are hitting the shelves every day. All of these things that are available are not just for kids, but for adults too!

The community is also provided with a computer with internet access for patron use. Free Wi-Fi is also available for personal device use. Patrons are able to utilize printing and copying services, and faxing services to come soon.

Planning has started for different events for all ages, including story time, game events for teens to connect and socialize, activity nights for adults, as well as book clubs for all ages. If you have an event that you would like to see held at the library, please reach out!

Please stay patient with us as we try to find the best hours of operation to meet the needs of all of our patrons. Visit our website, social media pages, and flyers around town to see our schedule for the week. If you have hours you would like to see available, please let us know!

I look forward to seeing you at the library, and if there is anything I can do to make your library experience better, please let me know!

Happy reading!
Katlyn Baker,
Halliday Public Library Director
